Following a career in banking, Bond underwriting, and land development, Joe entered the real estate business in 1970, graduated from the Realtors Institute in 1971 (GRI) and received his Broker license in 1972, managed several nationalfranchise real estate offices. In 2014 Joe and his wife Kathy Kelly joined Long & Foster Real Estate and he is currently the broker manager of the HistoricDowntown office of Long & Foster.
Joe received the Charlottesville Albemarle Association of Realtors Code of Ethics annual award in 1996, the President’s Award in 1998, CAAR Realtor of the Year in 1999 and the Hall of Fame award in 2017. Joe also served as an officer and member of the CAAR Board of Directors.
He is a licensed Virginia Real Estate Board Instructor and a VAR certified Ethics Instructor teaching classes in Contracts and Ethics. In addition to GRI, Joe isRealtor Emeritus. Joe and his wife Kathy Kelly, both Virginia natives have lived in downtown Charlottesville for many years.
