LONG & FOSTER CHAIRMAN, WES FOSTER APPOINTED TO VIRGINIA MILITARY INSTITUTE’S (VMI) PRESTIGOUS BOARD OF VISITORS

VMI Football Complex Named in Foster’s Honor:

Fairfax, VA - McLean resident P. Wesley Foster, Jr., (73), founder and chairman of the Long & Foster Companies and a 1956 graduate and longtime supporter of Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in Lexington, Va., was recently appointed by Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine to a four year term on Virginia Military Institute’s prestigious governing body, The Board of Visitors.

As a cadet, Wes Foster was a guard on the Keydet varsity football team for three years. As a first class cadet, he was a member of the Honor Court, president of the Officer of the Guard Association, and Corps editor of the cadet yearbook, The Bomb. Foster has served on the Board of Trustees of the VMI Foundation and the Board of Governors of the Keydet Club. He is the recipient of the Foundation’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award. In September 2006, the renovated VMI football complex on the Lexington, VA campus was dedicated and named in his honor.

Upon graduation from VMI, Foster was commissioned into the U.S. Army. After military service, he joined Kaiser Aluminum and ran the company’s national program in 15 cities, promoting aluminum building products with home builders.

After selling more than $1 million in residential real estate annually for five consecutive years in Fairfax County, he founded Long & Foster in 1968 with his partner, Henry A. Long. In July 1979, he became sole owner when he bought out his partner. More...
