LONG & FOSTER REAL ESTATE AGENTS ESTABLISH DIANA WHITFIELD MEMORIAL FUND FOR CANCER RESEARCH
Chantilly, VA — Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc.’s Gold Team Board
of Directors, a group representing the Company’s top-producing real estate agents,
recently established the Diana Whitfield Memorial Fund for Cancer Research within
the National Foundation for Cancer Research to honor the memory of Diana Whitfield,
the Long & Foster Gold Team’s immediate Past President, who succumbed to cancer
December 31, 2008, after a long struggle.
According to current Gold Team President, Linda McKee, "This fund for cancer research
in Diana’s name is a wonderful way for people to remember this remarkable lady we
all loved so much while at the same time contributing to the fight against cancer."
The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR), headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland,
was founded in 1973 to fund critical discovery work by leading cancer research scientists.
Since its inception, NFCR has contributed over $260 million to fund cancer research
scientists who have been responsible for several major breakthroughs in unraveling
the genetic and cellular origins of cancer and creating new, personalized treatments
for people suffering from this devastating disease.
