Brian J. Evans
Chief Legal Officer and Vice PresidentBrian J. Evans is the chief legal officer and senior vice president of The Long & Foster Companies. He joined Long & Foster in 2010, bringing with him more than 20 years of legal experience.
Evans is responsible for overseeing every aspect of the legal affairs of The Long & Foster Companies, including advising corporate partners on legal considerations in business activities, alerting the business to changes in laws and regulations, insuring compliance with all laws and regulations, investigating possible illegal or inappropriate conduct by officers, directors and employees, and mitigating litigation by and against the business. His areas of expertise include mortgage lending, real estate and banking law.
Evans previously worked with Weiner, Brodsky, Sidman, Kider, PC in Washington, D.C., focusing on mortgage lending laws and regulations, mortgage lending, licensing, builder/lender affiliations and product development. He worked with Wachovia Corporation managing the legal unit responsible for enterprise-wide mortgage and line of credit originations, and was the lead attorney on mortgage lending and consumer lending projects, among other responsibilities. Other organizations he worked for include First Nationwide Mortgage Corporation; First Nationwide Bank; Boyden, Cooluris, Hauser & Saxe; American Bankers Association; and the National Automobile Dealers Association.
Evans received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, before receiving his Juris Doctor from George Washington University with honors. He is a member of the California Bar and is eligible in Washington, D.C., and Virginia. He lives in suburban Maryland.
