Courtney graduated from Deep Run High School and James Madison University where she received her Bachelors of Social Work degree. After graduating from James Madison, Courtney moved to the Museum District where she worked for a non-profit for two years as a home visitor in Richmond's Northside.

Growing up in the Short Pump area, living downtown, working in North Richmond, and taking advantage of every adventure Richmond has to offer has allowed Courtney to gain an extensive knowledge of the area she serves.
