The Scott Team of Long & Foster Realtors is always up to the challenge –
The Scott Team is passionate about helping people achieve their goals during life changes that involve real estate, such as first-time home-buying, upsizing, downsizing, relocation, divorce or estates, and hopefully removing as much of the stress from the situation as possible. When you work with The Scott Team, you receive the expertise of the entire team, even if you’re primarily working with just one of us. We believe in going "all in" for our clients, using all available resources to serve your needs and reach your goals.
Buying a home is likely the largest investment you will ever make, so we will work with you to make sure your decision matches your needs. You’ll never feel pressured or rushed, because we want you to make a decision that you’ll be happy with for years to come. If it doesn’t feel right, it’s not the home for you. You can count on our patience and guidance to find the right home. We also realize that sometimes the road to selling your home can be a bit bumpy. Home is where the heart is, and making the choice to sell can involve many emotions. We work to put you at ease and field any curve balls, absorbing as much as of the stress as we can for you. After identifying your real estate goals and preferred timeline, we will work with you to develop winning strategies to reach your destination and walk with you through each step. You’ll never have to go through any of it alone. Creating a successful and memorable experience is our top priority!
As Richmond natives, we also understand the importance of preserving and giving back to our community. Along with the need for a stable home, many local families go to bed each night without a meal. Because of this reality, we work with the local food bank, FeedMore, to address hunger in the Richmond area with a sponsorship to provide 400 meals for every transaction we close. When we formed The Scott Team of Long & Foster in 2017, we were thrilled to be able to provide 16,000 meals that year for members of our community! We are passionate about making a difference in the community. When you work with us, you are not just partnering with our team, you are also partnering with the Richmond community.
More about Alice Scott –
Alice loves being a real estate agent as it challenges her to become better every day and always go the extra mile in serving her clients. She is also thankful to have a great support network with her managing broker and Long & Foster assisting with resources to provide high quality service to clients. She also loves being a part of a team, where she and Erik combine their individual strengths to serve the client.
Alice made a career change to real estate in 2014 in order to gain more control and flexibility with her career while also serving the community. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Alice worked in the field of sports medicine initially. She enjoyed working with athletes and helping them reach their goals. However, as much as she loved her work, the travel demands that went along with the job started to burn her out.
After earning her MBA from the University of Richmond, Alice took a position working for a local trade association in lobbying, member services and workforce development. This career transition was a welcome change with priorities and responsibilities shifting as she became a new mom in 2010; however, the consistent in-state travel for the association became a strain on her ability to put her son first. After six years with the organization, she had also hit a ceiling for advancement and wanted more opportunity.
A friend introduced her to real estate, and while it was a risky decision to leave a salaried job, she liked the challenge that it offered along with its unlimited potential. Growing up in the Richmond area, community has always been important to her and loves the opportunity to introduce transplants to RVA as well as to help clients navigate the great local neighborhoods. Going back to her experience working in sports medicine, Alice has always had a passion for helping people identify and reach their goals.
A natural problem solver, Alice loves helping her clients navigate challenges successfully during the real estate transaction.
More about Erik Shipp –
Like his partner Alice, Erik got started in real estate to support his children as a single dad.Erik started his career in the telecommunications industry, and later followed his passion as an artist to earn his degree in painting and print-making from VCU. After becoming a dad in 2006, Erik became a stay-at-home dad amidst the economic downturn to save on the expense of childcare. His nine years of stay-at-home experience raising his children enabled him to see the world through a different lens, full of innocence and wonder.
However, in 2015, Erik struggled to transition back into the workforce after being out of the workforce for so long. He learned what a career in real estate could offer him and saw it as a great option to restart his work life. Erik loves to solve problems for people, and real estate offers many opportunities for him to utilize this talent. Erik has a keen eye for detail, a quality he picked up through his years of experience as an artist, a great asset for both buyer and seller clients. He has also been known to help clients find a piece of furniture they really need and can even fix or refinish it for them. He is truly all about going the extra mile!
Erik also understands that the home buying and selling process can be stressful. His 10 years of training in martial arts provided him with more than just the ability to defend himself. This training has taught him how to stay relaxed under pressure. Erik has transferred these skills into his work with clients, helping them manage the range of emotions they experience throughout the home-buying and selling process. In real estate, self-discipline is essential to reaching every objective, which is why he loves being a part of The Scott Team, where he and Alice can work together in a great partnership for each and every client.
