While a small town, Louisburg has a bustling downtown area with a strong sense of community that hosts many local events, such as Friday Nights on the Tar and OkTARberfest Weekend. Louisburg also boasts 16 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including Cacine, Louisburg College, and the Louisburg Historic District.

The town of Louisburg is also home to Alpaca Dream, a local alpaca and llama farm that aims to educate visitors on those animals, and the Triangle Skydiving Center, a state-of-the-art skydiving facility.

As part of the North Carolina Piedmont, Louisburg is only a 25-minute drive to Raleigh, a 40-minute drive to Durham, and a 50-minute drive to Chapel Hill. It is also in close proximity to RDU Airport and Franklin County Regional Airport, as well as a mere 4 hours away from Washington, D.C.
