The vast majority of Taneytown's attractions and amenities involve some element of history. A mere stroll though the Taneytown neighborhood's historic district is more than enough to satisfy most residents, but others prefer to spend time at the Taneytown History Museum, which was recently relocated. Additionally, several small historic exhibits can be found on East Baltimore Street.

Taneytown, MD, is located near the Pennsylvania border, leaving residents free to enjoy the best of both states. The community is intersected by Routes 140 and 194. Route 140 connects with Route 15, which leads to Frederick to the south and Gettysburg and Harrisburg to the north. The area is also served by the Carroll Transit System.
