256 acre farm in Somerset Twp., Somerset Co. This farm was used to milk cows until a few years ago, and now used for beef finishing abnd crop production. This farm has about 155 tillable acres, with 40 acres of fenced pasture and 44 acres of woods. All the milking equipment is in place. The two story home is in rough shape and was used to house hired labor. It needs some remodeling and repairs. The main, six row, drive through, free stall barn was built in 1997 and has 200 stalls. An additional 200 free stalls was added in 2000 when the barn was extended. This was a scraper barn, with the manure was scraped and pumped into two Slurrystore structures across the road with a combined capacity of just under three million gallons. Cows were milked in a double 12 herringbone parlor, and there is a 6,000 gallon milk tank. The holding area has a crowd gate, and the cows walk down steps to get from the free stall barn to the holding area. There is a bedded pack area near here for sick cows and calving. There is an older poultry building used for heifers, there is another heifer barn and a bank barn for heifers and calves. The poultry building has 138 free stalls in two rows and concrete manure pit. There is a six bay commodity shed, and five concrete trench silos. This farm has a lot of buildings and could be put back into service as a dairy farm, or used for other livestock purposes.
