The Challenge:

Ken and Ann knew exactly what they wanted in an oceanfront property in Bethany Beach, Delaware, and with their accommodating budget, they presumed they would be able to find it. They wanted a home with a casual, fun atmosphere where their entire family would feel comfortable, but all the properties they looked at were much more formal than what they desired. After spending more than half a year searching for their dream beach house, Ken and Ann still hadn’t seen anything that resembled what they were looking for.

After Ken and Ann previewed every home listed on the market that fit their search without finding anything of interest, Colleen knew it was time for some alternative strategies. They searched local tax records and sent letters to oceanfront homeowners within a several mile area to ask if they were interested in selling their home. While some of them replied, still none of the homes they saw fit what Ken and Ann were looking for. Finally, Colleen suggested that her clients build a home to create exactly what they wanted.

 

Results:

Ken and Ann decided to take Colleen’s advice to build the beach house their hearts were set on. They began by purchasing an oceanfront property at a much lower price point and demolishing the existing structure. Using their remaining budget, the clients worked with an experienced builder recommended by Colleen and the Allison Stine Team who made sure they got exactly the home they wanted. Building a home was not at all what Ken and Ann set out to do, but they are very pleased with their decision and look forward to spending many happy years at the beach with their loved ones.
