Stone Harbor offers gleaming beaches, the cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Intercoastal Waterway, and several notable outdoor natural attractions. The Wetlands Institute introduces visitors to the marshes and coastal ecosystems that define the Jersey Shore. With a mixture of exhibits and hands-on experience, the Institute covers more than 6,000 acres and hosts the annual Wings 'N' Water art festival and fundraiser.The Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary, a designated national landmark, is a nature preserve founded on land home to nesting birds that return each year from late spring to early winter. In addition to herons and egrets, the site also attracts monarch butterflies during the fall, and features both saltwater mashes and freshwater meadows. 

The town of Stone Harbor is full of quaint charm that everyone in the family will enjoy. Situated along Third Avenue, shops and restaurants line the streets, and you'll often find plenty of residents and visitors just strolling along the sidewalks and window shopping. They are a local chain, with other stores open in Avalon, Cape May, North Cape May, Strathmere, and Wildwood, and have been open since 1962. They're buttermilk pancakes will melt in your mouth, and their large menu will ensure you have plenty to try every time you visit. If you are looking for something a bit up-scale to eat at for dinner, check out the Windrift Hotel Resort at the border of Avalon and Stone Harbor to eat at their restaurant and bar, which overlooks the beach.

In addition, the Stone Harbor neighborhood and the small downtown shopping district can be reached through the island's popular summer trolley system (which also services Avalon). Scenic Ocean Drive, which runs more than 50 miles from Cape May Point north to Atlantic City, runs directly through Stone Harbor.
