President of General BrokerageGary Scott is president of general brokerage of Long & Foster Real Estate, the nation's No. 1 independent residential real estate brand (by sales volume). Presently, Scott oversees approximately one-half of Long & Foster Real Estate’s brokerage business and is responsible for the Baltimore, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and central and southern Virginia regions.
Scott is committed to ensuring that Long & Foster maintains its position as market leader and continues its reputation as a real estate company committed to its sales associates and their customers. He is also committed to continuing to provide Long & Foster sales associates with the latest tools and technologies to keep ahead of the industry.
Scott entered the real estate business in 1986 in Delaware with B. Gary Scott Realtors where he was the top performing sales associate. From 1993 to 1998, he was the general manager for Patterson Schwartz. There, Scott led six offices and 300 agents for the company with sales of $1 billion. He then relocated to Charlotte, N.C., and became part of Allen Tate Company’s leadership team where his duties included overseeing day-to-day residential real estate business for the company with offices from Greenville, S.C., to Raleigh, N.C.
Additionally, Scott has experience working with affiliated businesses, which include mortgage, insurance, builder services, title, relocation and home services. Scott is known as someone who can create an inspirational and productive environment for employees and sales associates. He is a motivational team builder and a notable communicator who is able to connect with those with whom he works.
Scott is a 1986 graduate of Bucknell University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in economics. He and his wife, Mae, have three children and a grandson.
