Living in Annandale, VA

Annandale is a breath of fresh air for residents who want a departure from the heavily urbanized areas common in Northern Virginia. The Hidden Oaks Nature Center provides excellent outdoor activities throughout the spring, summer, and fall, with sports fields, playgrounds, and hiking trails that are perfect for athletic residents. The Green Springs Garden, located outside of the Annandale neighborhood, is a 28-acre horticulture center and park providing a dizzying array of plants, outdoor recreation, and entertainment. Concerts are commonly held here, as well as community picnics and art classes.

Outside of its thousands of acres of parks and forests, the Annandale neighborhood offers some of the region's best Korean food. Locally owned restaurants serve Korean fried chicken, Korean BBQ, kimchi, rice cakes, and sweet bread. You can almost smell the Vietnamese pho the second you come into town. These authentic and frequently family-run restaurants are found on nearly every corner in the downtown Annandale area. The shopping in this area has a mix between small businesses and large commercial chains, so you have convenient access to everything you need without venturing outside the city.

Annandale has an eclectic mix of housing, from newly constructed condos to century-old houses. Most of the homes for sale in Annandale are single family homes or townhouses, depending on how far you are from the city center. Annandale's residential traffic isn't bad outside of rush hour, but it's easy to get caught up in Beltway traffic. Many Annandale residents use the nearby park and ride Metro station to get into D.C. and surrounding cities to avoid any traffic issues. Annandale offers easy access to Washington D.C., Arlington, and Falls Church.
