In AU Park, D.C., there is plenty to do and see. Turtle Park is a favorite local hangout spot and a great place to spend the day for outdoor fun with an extensive playground, tennis courts, basketball hoops and plenty of green space. Don't forget to take a moment to admire the turtle statues that give the park its name. Residents can finish their day with shopping along Wisconsin or Massachusetts Avenue. Colonial, single-family homes on a compacted lot are the typical finds when moving to AU Park, D.C. Street after tree-lined street have two story colonials nestled next to neighboring houses, with all the commercial property on the outer edges of the neighborhood. AU Park real estate is mostly owner-occupied, but there are some rental options along Massachusetts Ave. and some condominiums and apartments along New Mexico Ave.

Housing in AU Park gets snapped up quickly, and the excellent local schools are just one reason why. The easy commute into the city combined with a bit more square footage than you will find in subdivisions closer to the city center, gives residents all the fun of big city living, without many of the hassles that often come with it.

With the Friendship Heights Metro Station to the north and the Tenleytown-AU station to the east, public transit is easily accessible. A quick metro ride southeast takes you the 2.5 miles to the National Zoo and other museums. Heading west takes you to the banks of the Potomac River, while a trip north brings you into Friendship Village. Several Zipcars and a Capital Bikeshare Station also help to make the neighborhood easily navigable without owning a car.
