Things to Do

Manchester, Maryland, loves its firefighters and it sure does show. Every year in late June through Independence Day, Manchester honors their local volunteer fire fighters with a week-long Carnival Week—music, fireworks, home-cooked food, and the crowning of the town's Fire Queen are just a few of the attractions.

Residents of Manchester, MD, enjoy visiting the town's parks for some fresh air and exercise. Most of these parks are located in or near the Manchester neighborhood of Millers, including Westside Memorial Park, which also includes the area's only skate park dedicated to skateboarders and inline skaters alike. Christmas Tree Park is not only the 22-acre home to the evergreen trees reminiscent of that certain time of year, but it's also where to play a game of tennis, volleyball, or baseball. You can even have a BBQ at one of the pavilions. Finally, Pine Valley Park is definitely for nature lovers with its trails, springs, wildlife, and more all found in its 60 acres.

Though most of the outdoor activities can be found in the Millers area, it's the Town Center area residents head to for a bite to eat. Along Main St. and on a few side streets, you'll find a number of restaurants serving an array of cuisines, including Asian, Italian, seafood, and classic American fare, as well as a wine cellar with some of the best reds and whites around.
